"Hello Mitch/Robyn,
We have this clock that’s been in my father’s side of the family for as long as I can remember. It sat on the mantle when I was a kid and I often watched my father use a strange key to wind the clock. He often warned my brother and I that we shouldn’t touch, as it was old and belonged to our grandpaw. The best part was that the clock had these chimes that sounded really cool -especially as kids. I inherited the clock without a key and would like to learn more.
Photo included. Thanks!"

"Hi – Well, thanks for sharing that story with us. It’s one we hear often as we meet folks like you who have great memories of things our families enjoyed.
So, based on the picture and my research you inherited a Seth Thomas Westminster Chime Beehive Clock Model 72. Yours is probably from the 1920s and has the added features of a slow/fast and chime/silent function which increases its values. As always condition and operation make the difference in value but we agree, the chimes are magical in these clocks. Est value: $400-$600.
P.S. We sent a key to your home address, careful not to overwind; let us know how it sounds."
