Product Description – This is for a pair of Circa 1940s painted spelter sculptures of two birds of prey (likely EAGLES) attempting to abscond with a rabbit and duck on each sculpture. They were probably sold as bookends as they appear to match despite one missing the one inch base. This in no way detracts from the exceptional detail highlighted on each statue. The statues have great size as they stand about 10 inches high X 7 inches wide at the widest point of the wingspan (duck is 1 inch shorter). These really stand out as the subject matter places you at the moment of impact – as the sculptor intended. Great gift or present for the hunting enthusiasts and collector.
Provenance – Purchased from a small estate in Glen Burnie, Maryland. The owners have been collecting for over 50 years and originally purchased these in an upscale department store in Baltimore, Maryland. They decorated the owners office desk as long as he could recall.
