Product Description: This item is an all original highly ornate calendar clock . It stands approximately 10″ tall by 5 ” at its widest point. The reason we fell in love with this clock is the great detail on the front which appears to be detailed garland and bow decorations framing the clock in first paint condition. The side controls which change the date, day and month, show the wear and tear of generations of use. The clock itself is not operating currently but does appear to wind – as always we didn’t fool with the mechanism, better hands than ours need to assess for working condition. The knob for the time does function correctly and all mechanisms seem free and unfrozen. This clock really displays well and stands out in a collection. The highlighted red remains robust and shows well no matter day, date or month selected. Neat addition to a good collection!
Provenance: We stumbled upon this estate during a trip through Amish country in Pennsylvania. The gentleman who sold us this clock indicated that he recalled his father bringing it back from the Second World War. A momento long forgotten from his Dad’s estate until we inquired about it. There are other clocks and miniature cast thermometers that we purchased from this wonderful gentleman – all from the collection of his father and Paw (pocket watches). We enjoyed listening to the stories he shared as we inquired about his keepsakes and can’t wait to find our way back sometime soon.
