Product Description – This antique Georgian waist pocket Scottish snuff mull is handmade with exceptional workmanship. Is is certainly 19th century and may be earlier but these are rather difficult to date. The body is made from a natural ram’s horn with beautiful patination and coloration in the horn and has a nice curled end. It is decorated with an unusual large stone further enhancing the snuff mull. It is inscribed with lettering but we were unable to discern the wording. This rare piece is in excellent condition corresponding to it’s age and has a hinged silver lid which fits securely on the mull but needs to be repaired. It measures 5 inches in length which is a larger size for these examples. We rarely find these in our travels but came upon collection recently with a few great examples. This is one that truly stands out.
Provenance – Purchased from an outstanding estate in Georgetown, Maryland. They were purchased from the esteemed estate of a foreign service dignitary stationed here in the US. We intend to list the others from this fantastic estate shortly.
