Product Description – Now this is a really great find that we have rarely found during our travels. Circa 1880s – this example measures a full 8 inches tall and 9 inches wide at the widest point of the brim. The trade sign is in its original paint and condition which we think is the best part about this piece. There is an original bracket that has been mounted (see pics) on the interior of the hat that would slide onto a exterior wall bracket and used as advertisement for the TOP HAT businesses of the day. This was very common during the turn of the century as top hat and derby shops were the men’s fashion of the day. Again a really rare and great example of an original Tin Top Top.
Provenance: This was found while on a driving trip through the Eastern Shore of Maryland and belonged to a retired Navy Commander and his wife. They were long collectors of cast iron and toys, some of which we were lucky enough to purchase. This is one great example.
